The DIVINE DOZEN is much more about who we are than what we do. It describes many of the character qualities that we aspire to attain as we passionately and consistently seek a growing, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ in our daily lives. We are creating an atmosphere that, when sustained, will become a culture; a culture of acceptance, authenticity, and unity.

1. ORDER ➤ Priority, sequence, authority.

Order determines outcome. God cannot be one feature of our life, He has to be the MAIN feature and RADICALLY #1 in our lives to carry out our destiny.

Once we determine the outcome we desire, the order or process we will follow is also determined. Sequential order builds in fluid motion, and when we live according to God’s PRINCIPLE OF FIRST * we can have full faith in a divine outcome. Even“free spirits” benefit from structure. Structure fosters dependability and reliability, but it does not interfere with God’s plans and the moving of the Spirit, which will always rule order.

THE STRUCTURE FOR ORDER IS:

DISCOVER: your spiritual gifts, motivations, interests, skills
DECIDE: how to advance to the next level
DEVELOP: a culture of acceptance, authenticity, unity
DIRECT: ongoing coaching, nurturing, support — discipleship
DEPLOY: connect with others interested in same ideas

2. TEAMWORK ➤ Individual commitment to a group effort.

Society often works on the 80/20 rule; 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people, which is totally inefficient
and ineffective. God put a seed of greatness inside all of us, along with a plan and destiny for our lives. Individuals who are actively involved inspire and encourage others to join in. When everyone contributes, much is accomplished. A team can achieve excellence when they are relational and understand they need each other. Teamwork requires usto empower people.

NECESSARY ELEMENTS OF TEAMWORK ARE:

CHARACTER: must have integrity; without integrity there is no honor to God in what we gain; when God gives vision, He will give the provision
CHEMISTRY: divine flow between teammates; the same spiritual DNA
CLEAR AGENDA: no issues that corrode values; it’s not about us — it’s all about God
CONFIDENCE: not insecure or jealous of another team member; not intimidated by a challenge
COMMITMENT: in it to win it; priorities in order so as not to be detrimental to the cause

3. IDENTIFIABLE LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE ➤ Becoming the leader God wants you to be begins with being a servant; why not lead a “Servolution”!

Jesus came to serve, not be served (MARK 10:45). If we are to serve Jesus, we must follow Him (JOHN 12:26) with enthusiasm(EPHESIANS 6:7-8), using the spiritual gifts He has given us (1 PETER 4:10). If we live and serve with freedom and humility (GALATIANS 5:13) we will be able to lead with passion, vision and drive, and in doing so realize our identity in Christ. Identity is the doorway to our destiny. If you want to live your destiny in Christ, realize your identity in Christ.

4. INTENTIONALLY DRIVEN to RELEVANT RESULTS ➤ Choice, not chance, determines destiny. Choose excellence.

We live by design, not by default, and expect excellence from well thought-out plans and great execution. There is nothing arrogant about expecting a spectacular return on well-invested time, treasure, and talent. Success results from acting intentionally, from the simplest detail to the grandest theme, and every aspect of a divine culture has an established purpose before it is implemented. The atmosphere is electric with anticipation when we believe, when we know what we do is going to work. Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles. To have the most relevant results, elevate your expectations.

5. GRACE & MERCY ➤ Everyone is in need of grace and mercy; everyone should give grace and show mercy.

If not for the unmerited favor and the grace of God, for His love that covers the sins we confess, what hope would we possibly have? His compassion for us and unwavering commitment to bring us through troubled times is demonstration of His mercy. In the paradigm of living in Christ we should display the same mercy and grace He did. We will make mistakes and at times fail — it is inevitable. But we should not lower our expectations of excellence or settle for less than our very best. When trying to soar, at times we will need grace and mercy — not as license to practice or play with sin, but rather as permission to dare to soar. Develop a culture that says it’s ok to fail, just don’t fail to try.

6. THE METHOD ISN’T SACRED - THE MESSAGE IS ➤ We’ll use whatever method necessary; our greatest responsibility is to present the truth in a package worth unwrapping.

Presenting the message that Christ alone is the hope of salvation and restoration to our relationship with God is and always will be the main purpose of our existence. The message will never be about religion; it will always be about a relationship with God, illustrating His love for us. Religion is fear and performance based, requiring behavior modification and attempting to force change from the outside-in. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is based on love and grace, and activates change from the inside-out. The motivation for our choice of methods is that they be soul winning, contagious, and motivating — compelling the listener to desire a relationship with God. Although the method isn’t sacred, the message must be presented in a package worth unwrapping.

7. FORWARD THINKING ➤ Plan and prepare with purpose and creativity; think "outside of the box"

To be effective at accomplishing our mission we must look ahead. We make the most of our time and energy when we identify and comprehend the heartbeat of our social culture as we endeavor and desire to be relevant in outreach and establish divine culture. It is within our control not to live in a time warp; instead we can join in the revolution of resurgence of God’s vision for His church. God’s church is not built on a foundation of “religion” but instead exists to passionately, authentically, and simply help people know and follow Jesus. At times this requires us to “think outside of the box ” We can’t reach a future generation with a backward mindset.

8. LET THEM BELONG BEFORE THEY BELIEVE ➤ We want to be inclusive, not exclusive; acceptance doesn’t mean agreement.

Love God, love others. That’s easy when you think and believe the same as someone else. But when we encounter those people who’s beliefs fly in the face of our beliefs and/or the Word of God, we still accept them. Demonstrate a passion to be radically inclusive in acceptance. Our canon impels us to open our circle of love and allow everyone to share our atmosphere, search for truth, and feel welcomed like part of the family, even if they come to us with no intention of changing, accepting them can lead to eventual change. We can’t judge someone by where they are, we don’t know where they started! When this principle tests you, let your test become your testimony.

9. PROMPTNESS ➤ The most precious thing you can waste — or steal from others — is time.

It is a matter of integrity to do what you say, when you say you will do it. This applies to anything that has been assigned a start time or deadline. Promptness implies more than just showing up — it is also about being mentally, emotionally, physically prepared in timely fashion for whatever the task or circumstance requires. Promptness makes the statement to all others involved with you/your task(s) that you have respect for their time, while tardiness makes the statement your time is more important than theirs. That is not a statement you want to make. If you belong to God represent Him well; be prompt.

10. SPIRIT OF GENEROSITY ➤ You can’t out-give God.

We have been given life and freedom, the hope for eternity, and forgiveness for everything wrong we’ve ever done or will do – because of the incomprehensible and unmatched love and generosity of God. We don’t deserve it and can never repay it, but we can show generosity to others. Seek opportunities to do something every day for someone who will never be able to repay you. If everyone does what is within their power to do, we can make an eternal difference in the lives of many. Love down, love side to side, and love up. Give generously of your time, talents, and treasures to bless others.

11. KEEP IT LIKE JESUS ➤ What would Jesus do is an axiom, not a cliche`; it is a “rule of behavior”, a precept.

Jesus was not only 100% God, He was 100% man. As a man Jesus was authentic, relevant, accepting, and powerful. This is a straight-forward and powerful formula of how we should live our life as a “Christ-follower”. Christ was tempted in every way, yet did not sin (Hebrews 4:15). If you feel the need to hide it, don’t do it. Declare with conviction we will always endeavor to keep it like Jesus and be authentic, be relevant and demonstrate love. This is a powerful formula for how to live life.

12. INCREASE WITH INTEGRITY ➤ God’s purpose ahead of our purpose.

GIVING: It’s not about us. Everything is God’s anyway, so we might as well be faithful to His purpose. God loves to bless His children with eye-popping blessings as our thoughts and actions align with His Word. Blessings come at the point of sacrifice, whether it be time, talents, or treasures. Without integrity there is no honor to God in what we gain. When God gives vision, He can be trusted for the provision. PEOPLE: Be strongly committed to find and create new methods for outreach opportunities. Promote connections. Support relationships that create moments of meaning have the capability to develop and encourage unity.

MISSION

THE TEN-FOLD MISSION OF LEGACY Sport IS TO:

DEMONSTRATE a passion to be radically inclusive in outreach. As we encounter those who believe differently than us we are strongly committed to let them belong before they believe.

DETERMINE to find and create new methods for offering outreach opportunities to everyone possible, thinking outside the box when necessary.

DEVELOP our community promoting connections through sport. Support relationships that create moments of meaning have the capability of developing and encourage unity.

DUPLICATE the unmerited favor, grace, and love that God has shown us. Spread it graciously, demonstrating compassion and commitment to acceptance and forgiveness.

DECLARE with conviction that we will endeavor to always keep it like Jesus and be authentic, relevant and open-minded. This is a powerful formula for how to live life as a “Christ-follower”.

DEDICATE ourselves to the cause of introducing people to Jesus Christ, intentionally impacting the destiny and eternity of those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

DEFINE and present the message that Jesus Christ alone is the hope of salvation and our relationship to God. Although the method isn’t sacred it must be presented in a package worth unwrapping.

DESCRIBE the Gospel in a manner that is easy to understand and non-threatening and succeeds in compelling the listener to desire a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

DISCIPLE participants who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, equipping believers to make other disciples and to champion the experience of a God-first heart.

DEPLOY believers to duplicate the impact made in their own lives into the lives of those who are without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

MISSION STATEMENT

We desire to bring together churched and unchurched, Christ-followers and non-believers, by using the vehicle of sports.  We want to live the message the world needs to hear, presenting the gospel in a non-threatening, authentic manner and by doing so provide friends and acquaintances, old and new, the opportunity to experience Jesus Christ.

THE TEN-FOLD VISION OF LEGACY Sports IS TO:

ENGAGE in outreach

EXTEND a hand of acceptance

ENDORSE connections, friendships

EXPERIENCE the blessings of new relationships

EMBRACE the mission

ENLARGE the mission field

ENTHUSIASTICALLY share the Gospel

EXCEL in discipleship

ENCOURAGE unity of believers from all bodies of fellowship

EXPECT God to do miracles

VISION STATEMENT

Creating a culture of authenticity, acceptance, and unity.

THE PARADIGM OF LEGACY Sports IS TO:

Provide outreach opportunities for participants to invite anyone who normally would not be involved with church to join them in participating in sports. These opportunities are beneficial in bringing people together and conceivably eventually to church with the expectancy of their hearts being stirred, their lives enhanced and their eternity with Christ secured.

THE STRATEGY OF LEGACY SPORTS AS A MINISTRY IS TO:

Effect change in our community using the vehicle of sports to invite the unchurched to join people from various church bodies in our community to participate in team sports. Sports used in this manner can be a mission field to show acceptance, grace, and mercy to those who may not have previously observed these attributes from professing Christians. If we can uphold the standards and principles of true Christ followers we can position ourselves to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the authenticity Christ calls His true followers to live by, hopefully offering non-believers an opportunity to alter their destiny to one in Christ and their eternity to one with Christ.
